Staff Development Programme in Medical Education

In 2009 the DUE launched the East Lancashire Staff Development Programme in Medical Education. This initiative was developed in recognition of the lack of easily accessible training for staff in East Lancashire. Sessions are aimed at any staff who are involved in Medical Education, either at an Undergraduate or Postgraduate level, or who are interested in developing their skills as educators.
Sessions are also available at other sites and on other topics through PRIME, the Manchester Medical School Staff Development programme.

The objectives of the East Lancashire Programme are as follows:

  • To provide training opportunities for local staff in primary and secondary care to develop their skills as medical educators
  • To provide training which is relevant, high quality, and easily accessible
  • To identify and foster individuals (ideally local) who can deliver such training
  • To promote an environment which fosters staff development within Medical Education
